When we arrived, our house was white...inside and out. All primed and just waiting for color! We spent an entire day getting paint in Kampala and started painting the very next day. David, a local Ugandan man, is doing the painting and he's doing a great job! We started with the kitchen. Above, David is just beginning to paint.
We painted the kitchen and the pantry this mustardy yellow color and I love it! We may build some other shelves in the pantry at some point, but we stacked these two that we already had and loaded them up! We'll see how long my M&M stash lasts!
The same day we started painting, our friend, Jane, arrived from Kampala! Sonnet knew Jane when she worked at Good Shepherd's Fold 11 years ago. We've been in touch with her over the past few months and Jane is going to be helping us out around the house. She's already been such a blessing a taken a huge load off of me. Even with the kids helping a ton, I was finding it very difficult (ok, impossible) to keep up with everything. The only problem we have now, is finding Jane a place to live here in Entebbe. Right now we are paying for her to transport back and forth between Kampala and Entebbe every day (about an hour trip each way) and it's just not an ideal situation. I told Jane today that I know God has the perfect place for her to live, we just haven't found it yet!

and we have a red dining room!

Here's the school room freshly painted and shelves loaded! We've got a lot more school stuff coming in the container and a bunch more furniture coming from friends who are moving away next month. It's amazing how much "homier" the house is beginning to feel. Everything takes time, but we're thankful for all that is getting done. David is starting to paint the bedrooms upstairs this week, so we'll post pictures of those when they're finished. We are very grateful for this wonderful home in Uganda God has blessed us with.
