Our New House

This first photo I just had to put in of Malachi because I thought it was super cute with his dimple :) Anyway... we've been hearing about our house in Entebbe since last fall, so we were very excited to get to go and see it in person. A couple of days ago Carl and Cathy Black and crew came to the guest house to visit and then they took us to see our house. They have been awesome in helping us out with things and Carl has done a ton of amazing work on our house. We're very thankful for our new friends!

Here is the kitchen. Carl had the cabinets made and we think they are beautiful. The whole house has a coat of primer and we get to choose the paint colors. I have lots of ideas, so it'll be fun to see how it ends up once it's all painted!

This is one of the kid's bedrooms. There are two rooms that are pretty much identical and then a smaller room that has the hot water heater in it that will be a perfect little bedroom for Ned! It's great because he is at the point where he needs some of his own space, so we're happy :)

This is in the master bedroom looking toward the door that goes to the balcony.

The stairs, obviously! The children thought it was great fun to scream at the top of their lungs because there is an enormous echo in the house right now. Hopefully, once we get some furniture, carpets and things on the walls, that will change!

Front yard, which is way bigger than we thought it would be!

Back yard, which is also very good-sized! We even have a papaya, avocado and mango tree on our compound. The orange roof behind the yard is part of the Andereti Hotel. So, when you come to visit, if you get tired of staying with us, you can bunk at the hotel :)

Monkey "friends" who weren't actually too friendly. The kids all came screaming around the side of the house and said the monkeys were in the yard chasing them. We are planning to have a couple of dogs before too long. Not only are they good security for people, they help keep the monkeys out of the yard.

This water tower is at the back of the house and I have a feeling it is going to be a point of contention between the children and me... the little side building directly behind the tower is an attached apartment. I think Judy, the lady who is going to help us out with the beginning of school, will live there initially, then after she goes back to Canada, we'll have lots of room for company.

There was a concrete "lid" type of thing in the front yard and when Leo lifted it up, an 8 inch long lizard went running out (scared him half to death!). Under the lizard was a nest of eggs. The kids thought it was great. I'd much rather have lizards than snakes (or the giant cockroach that was in the downstairs bathroom!).

Here is our front gate, with Michael, the guard. I was told he liked to clean houses and when I asked him about it he said that yes, he does like to clean, it is his profession. I told him, "We will be friends!"

This is the lane leading away from our house and back to Carl and Cathy's. We are overwhelmed by God's overly-abundant provision for us with this house. It's much more than we could have ever asked for and we are so thankful! Stay tuned for more pictures as we get moved in...
