Malachi's Adoption Party

Malachi's Adoption was finalized on September 10th!!! We ended up participating in the court proceeding by telephone, which was a little anticlimatic after everything we've been through with his case, but it's now official, nonetheless! We'd been planning a big celebration for him anyway here in Port Alsworth, so it all worked out fine. One of our neighbors, Grace Lindle, makes these beautiful quilts for new babies in Port Alsworth. She made this "I Spy" quilt for Malachi. Each square has a different picture and all the kids LOVE it! What a special gift. Thank you, Grace.

After church on Sunday, we had a community pot-luck. Everyone brought yummy food (you can see some of it in Carlon's mouth) and enjoyed being together and visiting. I think it was extra fun just being together as a community, after a very busy summer.

Our case worker, Anne Ashton, came out just for the party! Here she is with our six and Sonnet's two kids who she placed with us. We call her the Adoption Queen :) So glad she could join us for the celebration.

And here's the star of the show, the terrific two year old himself :) He was being so silly! Someone commented that he seemed to know the party was all about him, which is how it should be!

After lunch, Leo organized bike races on the track he built at our house. It was mostly kids who competed, but I had to put in this picture of Leo and Mark McGee racing too :) That's a story in itself! What a blessing to have Malachi as an official Fowler now. God truly worked out so many things for him to be with us. What a great God we serve!
