Heading North

Greetings from sunny California!

I apologize for not being in touch better this past week or so. The internet connection here is very unreliable!

We are staying at an RV Park in Vacaville, which has been great. There is a pool and the kids have been spending hours swimming every day. Some of them are actually learning to swim. In Alaska, the water is so cold, it is difficult to learn any technique besides not getting hypothermia! After my "complaining" about the cold and the rain, we have been experiencing some very warm weather. On Saturday the official temp was 99.7 degrees F here at the RV Park!

As some of you know, my sister, Chandelle, and her husband, Jacob live here in California and both work at the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. We were able to spend a couple of days at the park and had a blast! There is a lot we didn't have time for, but we got to do some special things with feeding and meeting the animals Chandelle works with. The kids loved that and all of the rides, of course. One day last week we drove to Monterey Bay and met some friends at the Aquarium there, which was really fun too. Another highlight of this trip was getting to spend time with our friends, the Ericksons. I figured out it had been 7 years to the day, since I'd last seen Amy! It was wonderful to get to visit and for the kids to enjoy getting to know each other. We weren't able to get a church lined up for the Sunday here, but not for lack of trying. However, the next couple of weeks seem to be filling up nicely!

Tomorrow morning we plan to start driving North again. We hope to spend a couple of days enjoying the California coast as we drive and then visit some friends in Central Oregon on our way to Spokane. Here is what we've got lined up for our schedule, as far as we know:

Sunday, May 24th- Still open and available for a church in the Spokane area!
Thursday, May 28th- Homeschool Fellowship Group, Culdesac area, Idaho
Sunday, May 31st- 9:00 am Steptoe Community Church, Steptoe, WA
Sunday, May 31st- 10:15 am Colfax First Baptist Church, Colfax, WA
Friday, June 5th- 7:00 pm "The Africa Connection" at Shiloh Hills Fellowship, Spokane, WA
Sunday morning, June 7th- Tonasket Free Methodist Church, Tonasket, WA
Sunday evening, June 7th- Tonasket Church (honestly, we don't know the name at this point, but it's in the old Free Methodist Church on Main Street.)

Our church meetings are open to anyone in the area, so we'd love to see you there! The Africa Connection on Friday evening, June 5th in Spokane, would be a great time to get together too. Please come and invite your friends, announce it in your church... the more the merrier! If you have questions about any of these dates or times, get in touch with us. Our cell number is (509) 714-4605.

I haven't been able to get more photos on the blog recently, but if you are new to this update list and want to check out our blog, the address is www.alaskanwildfowlers.blogspot.com. I look forward to getting a lot more pictures up as soon as we have a better internet connection.

Thanks so much for your prayers. We are so thankful for the safety and health we've experienced thus far. God is so good!!!

Hope you have a wonderful day~ Leo, Menda and Family
