Twin Lakes

A couple of weeks ago Leo did a flight up to Twin Lakes, about 35 minutes from here. He got some nice photos with the fall colors.

This little building on "stilts" is a cache- people use these to store their food so bears and other critters can't get it. These buildings were built by Dick Proenneke and are now maintained by the park service.

Here's the inside of Dick's cabin.

And the outside! When Dick lived here, you could feed the birds right out of your hands when you'd go to visit :) This is really a beautiful spot with a fun bit of history.

ROy and I were just talking about this cabin a few days ago. It was cold and were discussing how cold Dick Pernicky (sp?) had to have been in that thing!!!

The view from that cabin is one of the prettiest I've ever seen.
